Need for a Driving Licence

No individual is allowed to drive a motor vehicle in any public space unless they possess a valid driving licence issued by the Licensing Authority, authorizing them to operate the specific vehicle.

Licensing Authorities

The authorities responsible for issuing driving licences include:

• Joint Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner
• Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) act as Licensing Authorities
• Additional Licensing Authorities include Administrative Officers and Motor Vehicle Inspectors

Age Requirements for Driving Licence

• Individuals under 18 years can obtain a learner's licence for motorcycles without gear, but only with written consent from their guardian.
• Those aged 18 years or above can apply for a driving licence for non-transport vehicles.
• Applicants aged 20 or above are eligible to apply for a transport vehicle driving licence.
